Tintee is a mood app for a closed group — friends, family or close ones. This page says plainly what it does, what it never does, and what you can do.
What it is
- Each person in the group picks one of ten moods (a color and a word) and, if they want, a three-word note. That’s all they can publish.
- The group sees it in the app, on a home or lock screen widget, or in a floating bubble on Android — without opening the app.
- There is one reaction: a ✌️ sign that means “thinking of you”. No comments, no chat, no photos.
- If someone stays in the “dark” mood for a while, their friends get a gentle nudge to send a sign. The app also shows help resources (in the US, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; in France, the 3018).
What it is not
- No feed, no discovery, no strangers. A group is 20 people max and can only be joined with an invite link from someone in it.
- No “seen”, no counters, no rankings, no streak pressure. Nobody knows who looked without reacting.
- No email, no phone number, no password, no real name required. A first name or nickname is enough.
- No location, no photos, no contacts, no ads, no tracking across apps, nothing sold to anyone.
Ages and your approval
Tintee is for people 13 and older. In the European Union, a young person can sign up alone from the age of digital consent in their country (15 in France). Below that age, the app asks for your green light:
- Your child gets a short code in the app and sends it to you however they like.
- You open Tintee (or the link they sent), type the code, read one screen, and approve. No account to create, no group to join.
- You never see their mood, their group or their friends. Tintee is not a monitoring tool.
- You can withdraw your approval at any time from Settings: the account and its data are deleted.
- Uninstalling the app does not delete the account. An account with no sign of life for 90 days (not opened, no mood, no device still registered) is deleted automatically; the person who created a group can also remove a member from it.
In the United States, Tintee does not accept children under 13 for now.
Data, in one paragraph
Tintee stores a first name, the current mood and note, the group, a device token for notifications, and the parent approval when there is one — in Google’s European data centers (Belgium). Nothing else. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
